Dr. Axel McGuffie is a Boca Raton dentist and the founder of Boca Dental Arts. A U.S. Army veteran and electrical engineer, he earned his DMD from the University of Florida, is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has completed 900+ hours of continuing education, mostly in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. McGuffie brings discipline, precision and a genuine artist's eye to every smile he restores.
His path to dentistry was anything but ordinary. After serving as a U.S. Army Infantry Paratrooper, he earned a degree in electrical engineering — while working as a dental assistant, where he found the mentors who inspired his career.
Since graduating from the University of Florida College of Dentistry, he has maintained hundreds of hours of continuing education, the majority in cosmetic and implant dentistry. He uses his creative skills and integrity to restore beautiful, healthy smiles.

1986
Four years of service, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and three Certificates of Achievement; honorably discharged in 1986.
1990
Graduated from Florida Atlantic University with the Outstanding Science Student Award, while working as a dental assistant — where mentors encouraged him toward dentistry.
1999
Honored with the Quintessence Publishing Award for Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontics Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement in Prosthodontics, and the Academy of General Dentistry Senior Student Award.
Marco Island
Built a very successful practice on Marco Island, Florida, with an emphasis on cosmetic and implant dentistry.
2014
Sold the Marco Island practice to return to Boca Raton, closer to family and friends — and opened Boca Dental Arts.

Dr. McGuffie and his wife, Debbie, have been happily married for more than 30 years and have a lovely daughter — who is also the model for this website. When he isn't crafting gorgeous smiles, he plays competitive racquetball.
