Dentures: Restoring Comfort and Confidence

Modern dentures replace missing teeth with natural-looking, removable prosthetics that help you eat, speak, and smile with ease.

Types of Dentures

Complete dentures replace all the teeth in an upper or lower arch. Partial dentures fill gaps when some natural teeth remain, attaching with clasps or precision connectors. Implant-supported dentures snap onto or are fixed to dental implants, offering added stability for many patients.

Getting Your Dentures

The process begins with an evaluation of your gums, remaining teeth, and jaw. Impressions and measurements are taken so the denture can be shaped to your mouth and bite, and you may have a try-in appointment to review fit and appearance before the final denture is completed.

In some cases, an immediate denture can be placed on the same day teeth are removed, so you are not without teeth while healing. It will usually need adjustments or relining as the gums settle.

Adjusting to New Dentures

It is normal for new dentures to feel unfamiliar at first. Speaking and eating may take some practice, and minor sore spots can occur. Starting with softer foods cut into small pieces and reading aloud can help you adapt. Follow-up visits allow small adjustments for comfort.

Caring for Dentures

Clean dentures daily with a soft brush and a cleaner made for dentures, and store them in water or a soaking solution when not worn so they do not dry out. Brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth as well. Because the jaw changes over time, regular checkups help ensure your dentures continue to fit well.
